The purpose of funkyfit kids is for children to be having so much fun...

that they don’t even realise they are exercising.

Kids love to be active. Making physical activity a part of a child’s daily routine is not only fun, but it’s also healthy. Children who are sufficiently active, particularly those who participate in vigorous  activity 3-4 times a week, are at a lower risk of developing lifestyle diseases and are also laying the foundations of a healthy adult lifestyle.

 

With that in mind, we have created a program that is inclusive for all levels of physical capabilities. To be more specific, the children will participate in a warm up, ‘heart-thumping’ aerobic activities and routines, and conclude with some fun and physically challenging games.

 

Physical activity is important for healthy growth and development. It’s a great way for kids to make friends learn physical and social skills.

 

What do kids do in a funkyfit kids class?

The funkyfit kids instructor will lead the children in a group warm up, to increase the blood flow and raise their heart rate.

 

This is followed by cardiovascular conditioning. The children perform very simple aerobic moves which are choreographed to inspirational, energetic music.

 

The children then participate in active imagination games, which encourage social interaction and a healthy attitude towards their self-esteem, self-awareness and confidence. The games use coordination, balance and agility using equipment such as hoops, beanbags, giant parachutes, jumping sacks, balloons and much more.

 

Classes conclude with a cool down and stretch.

 

As with adults, exercise needs to be interesting, varied and interactive to maintain the children’s enthusiasm. Our classes are set to music which is age-appropriate, energetic and motivational.

 

We wish to encourage and develop your child’s interest for a healthy lifestyle through childhood and into adolescence, and provide the opportunity for them to do so with funkyfit kids exciting program of fitness, games and activities.

 

funkyfit kids classes run for 45 minutes, however, I can tailor the class to your specific needs. Classes can be condensed into 30 minutes or extended to an hour.

                                          

The degree of difficulty in choreography will be adjusted to suit the participants, from Junior Primary children right through to Secondary School young adults.
